From Idea to Hackathon
In the spring of 2025, Bråttsjy participated in its first hackathon in Trondheim, Norway.
The hackathon brought together students, entrepreneurs and professionals to work on real-world challenges related to future defence and drone technologies. Participants could choose between three challenge areas: cost-effective drone interceptors, next-generation drone detection systems, and future drone capabilities.
Bråttsjy participated in the latter category. The starting point was a drone concept that had been developing over several years and was now ready to be challenged through discussion, collaboration and hands-on development.
Over the course of a few intensive days, the project received valuable feedback from mentors, industry professionals and participants with a wide range of backgrounds and expertise. Equally important was the opportunity to build new connections and discuss the concept with people working in technology development, defence and innovation.
The hackathon also resulted in the first physical prototype of the concept. While much work still remains, the event marked an important step from idea to practical development.
For Bråttsjy, the trip to Trondheim was a useful reminder of the value of testing ideas early, allowing them to be challenged by others, and being open to the possibility that they may evolve in new directions along the way.
